Developed by Iris Capital, our Structural and Civil Engineering teams are working closely with SJB, Durbach Block Jaggers (Camilla Block), and Curious Practice on the East End Stage 3 and 4 Hunter Street Mall Redevelopment. A significant, large-scale project that will contribute to the economic growth and social development of the Newcastle region.

Comprised of 5 mid-rise buildings sharing 2 podiums, with a 5-level basement, the large mixed-use urban renewal development features a range of spaces for professionals and the community including retail, offices, hotel, residential apartments, and public spaces.

“As a large-scale project on a heavily sloping site, underlain with cohesive and non-cohesive soil, a high standing ground water table, neighbouring heritage buildings, and the widespread mining tunnels of Newcastle belowground; the development presents a variety of challenges that our engineers tackled with benchmark, innovative and specialised engineering solutions.” Jonathon Dymond, XK Associate.

Our structural and civil team developed an efficient and practical design solution for a complex site that step beyond the expectations of typical structural solutions, integrating stormwater infrastructure without affecting the architectural intent.

It is a testament to the commitment of the developer, project team, and the NSW Government to revitalise the area and create a vibrant urban community that meets the needs of its residents and visitors alike.
